Who we are

The View is a privately owned vacation rental on Lake Lanier, Gainesville, GA. This policy explains what information this website collects when you book directly with us, why, and what we do with it. Questions or requests: the contact form at https://theviewlakelanier.com/contact.

What we collect

• When you book: your name, email address, phone number (optional), stay dates, number of guests and the price you paid.
• When you sign the rental agreement: your typed name, initials, mailing address, an optional drawn signature, and the date and time, your IP address and browser type — kept as the signing record, together with a PDF of what you signed.
• When you review your stay: your star rating and comments, and your first name only if you choose to show it. Reviews appear on the site only after we read them; we never show your last name or contact details.
• When you contact us (by email or the contact form): your name, email address, phone number and dates if you give them, and your message. Contact-form messages are emailed to us and not stored on the website.
• Browsing the site: like any website, our host (Cloudflare) processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and keep the site secure. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and the site sets no cookies of its own.

Payments are processed by Stripe

You pay on Stripe's secure checkout page. Your card number and security code go directly to Stripe and never reach this website or us — we do not see or store them.

Stripe gives us a payment reference so we can match the payment to your booking. In our Stripe account we can also see limited details Stripe shows to merchants: the card brand, the last 4 digits, the expiry date, and the billing name and ZIP code. We use these only for refunds, receipts and disputes. Stripe's own use of your information is described in its privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

How we use it

• To confirm and manage your booking, take payment and issue refunds.
• To send booking emails: your confirmation, the signing link, your signed copy, arrival information and, after your stay, one invitation to review it. We do not send marketing emails.
• To contact you about your stay, for example to send the door code the day before you arrive.
• To keep a record of the signed rental agreement and to enforce it if needed.
• To keep tax and accounting records, including Georgia and Hall County lodging taxes.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with the services that run the booking system, and only what each needs:

• Stripe — payment processing.
• Resend — sending our emails to you.
• Cloudflare — website hosting, the booking database and private storage of signed agreements.
• Google Fonts — the site's typefaces load from Google, which receives your IP address when a page loads.
• Airbnb and Vrbo receive only the dates that are booked, so they cannot be double-booked — never your name or contact details.
• Authorities, if the law requires it.

Security cameras at the property

Two exterior security cameras overlook the front yard and driveway. There are no cameras inside the house, in the backyard or at the dock.

How long we keep it

We keep booking records and signed agreements for as long as we need them for tax, accounting and legal purposes — generally up to 7 years after your stay — and then delete them.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you through the contact form at https://theviewlakelanier.com/contact. We will delete what we are not required to keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons.

Children

Bookings must be made by someone at least 25 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
